Landscape and Wildlife Art

by Hazel H. Jensen

Award-winning artist, Hazel Jensen, paints with oils in a soft, moody style, striving to capture the beauty she sees in the area surrounding her home in northeastern Utah. She especially loves to plein air paint in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is most dramatic. She has learned that even the most comman scene in one's own back yard can be spectacular when the light is magic. She considers herself to be blessed to be surrounded by some of the world's best scenery: the High Uinta Mountains, Green River gorges, the high desert, red rock canyons, farms and ranches galore and a variety of wildlife found in their natural habitat. She has a working studio near her home and loves to paint, believing she will never run out of subjects or scenery.

She has lived most of her life on a farm and loves the rural life. She married her high school sweetheart 41 years ago and together they have traveled to several foreign countries including:  Canada (where one of their sons resides), Egypt, Israel, Italy and Holland. One of their favorite trips was a cruise down the Inside Passage of Alaska and there is much more of the world they would like to see.

They have three sons, three daughters-in-laws and nine fantastic grandchildren.
